Super-deduction for commercial vehicles at Sandicliffe
The super-deduction for vans and commercial vehicles allows businesses to claim back up to 25p for every pound spent on qualifying machinery. This scheme also allows you to claim 130% in-year tax relief for main rate expenditure on new vans. Running until 31st March 2023, there has never been a better time to invest in your commercial vehicles.
Equipment and machinery that qualifies for this scheme is usually given an 18% main rate write-down allowance. This shows just how much of a saving the super-deduction is offering. Why has the government introduced the super-deduction for vans?
The government has designed the super-deduction scheme to offer businesses a “strong incentive to make additional investments, and to bring planned investments forward”. This is in response to the falling levels of business investment that were triggered by Covid-19. During Q3 of 2019 and Q3 of 2020, business investment in the UK dropped by 11.6%.
