Sandicliffe team up with local athlete on the road to Rio

With the next Olympic Games just two years away, we\'re delighted to have committed to supporting one of Nottinghamshire\'s brightest prospects for Rio. David Fletcher, the international cyclist, has teamed up with Sandicliffe and Nissan, one of the official partners of TeamGB and ParalympicsGB. David called into our Hucknall showroom this week to collect his sponsored Nissan Juke before heading to Hoogerheide, Holland where he will compete in the UCI Cyclo-Cross World Championships. David, from Edwinstowe, is one of Europe\'s leading cyclo-cross riders and part of TeamGB\'s Olympic Development Programme. Dean Radford, Sales Manager at Sandicliffe Hucknall, the East Midlands\' new and used Nissan experts, said: "Nissan are an official partner of TeamGB and ParalympicsGB and their Unite and Excite campaign is aimed at supporting local athletes on the road to the next Olympic and Paralympic Games. "David is a local lad and we\'re delighted to be able to support his training ahead of the forthcoming World Championships and the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016." Nissan\'s partnership with TeamGB and ParalympicsGB was launched in January by six time Olympic gold medal winner Sir Chris Hoy. Based around the principles of determination, innovation and support, the gold medal winning cyclist and Nissan ambassador said: "Determination is the fuel of every champion. It drives you to be first off the line and pushes you to perform at your peak on the biggest stage in the world." Mr Radford from Sandicliffe added: "The Unite and Excite campaign is aimed at allowing athletes to focus 100 per cent on their training and to help them by building up a strong base of local support. Over 35 Nissan dealerships have so far partnered with a local athlete and we\'re committed to doing what we can to help David achieve his goal of being selected for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016."
