Qashqai Electrified: 187bhp Hybrid Powertrain Added To New Nissan Qashqai
The New Nissan Qashqai will be equipped with a new 187bhp e-Power hybrid powertrain and will go on sale in 2022.

If you’ve been wondering when Nissan’s popular crossover, the Nissan Qashqai, would be joining Nissan\'s electric vehicle range, you can stop. The 2022 Nissan Qashqai is set to be launched with a new hybrid powertrain named e-Power.
The New Nissan Qashqai hybrid powertrain will consist of an electric motor similar to those in the Nissan EV range which will power the wheels directly as well as a 1.5-litre ‘range-extender’ petrol engine.
Nissan claims the hybrid technology used in the New Nissan Qashqai makes it run like an electric vehicle without the need for charging it.
The Japanese manufacturer has also promised a 1.3-litre mild hybrid version of the New Qashqai which will occupy a small electric motor used to improve efficiency.
So what’s the difference between the upcoming 1.3-litre hybrid Qashqai and the new e-Power hybrid Qashqai?
The biggest difference between the two new Qashqai options is their source of power. For the 1.3-litre mild hybrid variant, it’s the petrol engine that powers the wheels. For the e-Power hybrid option, it’s an electric motor that powers the wheels.
The e-Power electric motor driven system redefines the technology of electrified powertrains through unique Nissan Innovation. One of the biggest advantages of the New Nissan Qashqai e-Power hybrid is that it combines the efficiency of an electric motor with the range convenience of an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE).
Nissan also says the e-Power electric motor driven system enables you to drive EV mode in Stop and Go urban driving conditions as well as delivering longer ‘G-feeling’ under acceleration than competitors.
The e-Power system is currently used in the Nissan Note and Nissan Serena – both Japanese market-specific. The European edition of the e-Power system is set to be upgraded to a 187bhp output across the range which only 70% of the Nissan Note and 50% of the Nissan Serena offer.
Simply put, the solely electric-motor-based e-Power Nissan system always runs at its optimum range, improves fuel efficiency and cuts emissions, all without the need of being plugged in to charge.
It’s also claimed to accelerate quicker than other hybrid equivalents at lower engine revs with less noise pollution.

Our offer is simple and innovative, with both powertrain options being efficient, but still fun to drive.”
