Ford Pro showcased digital solutions that increase efficiency at the 2022 IAA Transportation Show. Find out what this means for Ford commercial drivers.
Ford Pro solutions integrate vehicles, software, charging, and connected services on a single platform. This allows commercial customers to reduce costs and increase efficiency as they transition to electric vehicles. New Ford Pro solutions were recently on display at the company\'s booth at the IAA Transportation Show in Hanover, Germany in 2022,
The star of Ford Pro\'s selection of electric vehicles on display at the show was the new E-Transit Custom, which made its global public debut. Ford Pro is also revealing new details about the next-generation Transit Custom portfolio, which will include plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and EcoBlue diesel-powered variants, ahead of the first vehicle deliveries in mid-2023.
Two more productivity-boosting initiatives from Europe\'s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer are the innovative new Ford Pro Upfit Integration System, which enables smarter and more efficient digital-first vehicle conversions, and an improved Mobile Service offering in key markets, including Germany and the UK.
Ted Cannis, CEO, of Ford Pro, said; “Spiralling costs are putting our European business customers under huge pressure, and the need for productivity solutions has never been greater. Ford Pro’s revolutionary single platform is designed to help our customers cut costs and streamline their operations as they make the switch to electric vehicles.”
A conversion of some kind is present in 50% of all Transits sold in Europe, and many of these alterations include integration with the vehicle\'s electrical system, including the addition of controls and displays, which can be challenging and time-consuming for converters.
To expedite this process, Ford Pro has now developed an Upfit Integration System, a first-to-market digital solution. It was first seen on the brand-new Transit Custom in Europe. Conversions may be simply connected to the car\'s electrical system and handled via the 13-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen thanks to the new system\'s interface module.
Conversion can be delivered faster as they won\'t need to modify the cab area or splice into OEM wiring to install controls. This will improve dependability and safety. Customers can create logic for conversions, such as preventing the lowering of a wheelchair ramp until the automobile is stopped, in park or neutral, and the handbrake is used.
Ford Pro\'s mobile service services have also been expanded in key European markets. Using specially-converted vehicles to offer Transit Center functionality to customers\' depots and driveways, Mobile Service is already doing 70% of a big UK fleet\'s regular maintenance work. Businesses can save money and time by avoiding workshop visits.
In the United Kingdom, where the service was first offered, a 115-strong fleet now covers 90% of the country and is projected to execute more than 75,000 servicing and repair tasks this year. Mobile service is one of the solutions provided by the Ford Pro ecosystem to assist businesses in increasing productivity and lowering the cost of commercial vehicle ownership.
Ford Pro Service\'s FORDLiive linked uptime solution helps customers manage their fleets more effectively. FORDLiive, according to Ford predictions, can reduce downtime by up to 60%. 11 This year, the technology has already enabled 145,000 additional days of vehicle availability, saving customers almost £63 million.
