The Motability Scheme allows disabled people to put money from their UK government-funded mobility allowance towards leasing a new car, powered wheelchair or scooter. At Sandicliffe, we specialise as a Motability car dealer. The ultimate goal of the Motability Scheme is simple; helping disabled people find an affordable and practical car through no-strings-attached financial support.
How does it work?
The combined efforts of the Motability charity and Motability Operations have provided disabled people with a worry-free transport solution across the UK. Motability are responsible for all funds raised for the scheme, while Motability Operations manages and maintains all customer payments for leasing their vehicles. All Motability activity is contracted and follows strict policy guidelines, so you are guaranteed a transparent and honest service. When you lease a Motability car, the funds from your mobility allowance are paid straight to Motability Operations. Providing that you are still eligible, you can contract-out a new car every three years, along with a list of additional benefits.
If you are disabled and receive an allowance, you may be entitled to exchange that allowance for a vehicle which best suites your needs. To be eligible for the Motability scheme you need to be receiving a disability allowance from the list below: Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA) Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP) War Pensioner\'s Mobility Supplement (WPMS) Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) There\'s no age limit on the scheme and you have to have at least 12 months remaining on your award
