To celebrate 30 years of their legendary sports car, Mazda have revealed a limited-edition MX-5 Miata. Do you want to get your hands on one?
April 25, 2019
A car that first debuted in 1989 at Chicago Auto Show, now one of the world’s favourite little roadsters has returned in 2019 to tease and please the avid Mazda driver and motor enthusiast amongst us. But let’s get down to what makes this MX-5 so special…
To begin with, we’re immediately taken away by the exclusively new paint job Mazda are naming ‘Racing Orange’. The bold colour choice reflects a daring nature and captures the electrifying sensation every driver will experience behind the wheel of this Miata. But before we take a look inside, let’s discuss the MX-5’s striking exterior which includes a gloss black grille, corner splitters on each frontal side and blacked-out mirror caps in a gloss finish.
The car rolls on RAYS forged 10-Spoke, 17” aluminium wheels in a gunmetal-grey. The wheels are stronger, yet lighter and more dynamic than ever before and are branded with lettering around the rim of the alloy reminding us just how exclusive this nimble masterpiece is. Behind the frame of the alloy, you will find high-grade brake calipers (fittingly painted orange). Not only do the front two wheels enjoy Brembo branded calipers but the rear two are supplied by Nissin so you can expect phenomenal handling and braking even around the sharpest of bends. Also hidden behind the frame is a sports-tuned suspension comprised of Blistein dampers and shocks fitted to deliver superior stability and exceptional durability.
The sprightly sports car comes in both the Miata RF (retractable fastback) and Miata Soft Top bodies just like previous models, however, the 30th Anniversary Edition appears more athletic, more aggressive and more seductive. If you take a look at the front headlamps, you’ll see how thin and alluring they look whilst the rear LED lights are almost wing-like in shape adding to the aerodynamic and streamlined nature of this Miata. Integrated into the headlights is Mazda’s latest technology including features such as Adaptative Front Lighting System, Dusk Sensing Lights and Coming Home/Leaving Home Lights.
In terms of rear exhaust, Mazda have gone with the signature twin outlet system which will undoubtedly increase horsepower and engine efficiency when on the road. In fact, the Racing Orange roadster uses Mazda’s innovative 2 litre SKYACTIV-G, 4-cylinder engine technology to produce astounding agility and power up to 181hp with a maximum torque of 205Nm (a shooting increase from last year’s 155hp).
But it doesn’t stop there - this stunning high-performer has an interior equally as impressive. The remarkably designed cabin space complements the Racing Orange colour scheme perfectly with orange accents echoed throughout. Every trim comes fitted with high-end RECARO leather and Alcantara seats with a matching Alcantara dashboard. The seats are beautifully crafted with luxurious material as well as a premium Bose sound system built-in to the headrests. Around the seats you’ll see orange piping along with orange AC vents and orange stitching surrounding the steering wheel, gearshift, handbrake and dashboard, further adding to the car’s racer-esque epithet.
We’ll let you catch your breath before we take it away again by reminding you that this high-class, very limited, state-of-the-art machinery is available to purchase from your local Sandicliffe Mazda.
