Mazda CX-30 Named Safest Car In The World After Record-Breaking Euro NCAP Score
The All-New Mazda CX-30 crossover earns the highest NCAP Safety rating ever given to a vehicle to date.
November 26, 2019
The 2019 Mazda3 family hatchback managed to score an overall Adult Occupant rating of 98% which was the highest any vehicle had ever received on record (along with the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Volvo XC60 and Volvo V40). The highly anticipated Mazda CX-30 has now surpassed this with a record-breaking Adult Occupant score of 99%, making it the safest car in the world.

2020 Mazda CX-30 undergoes Euro NCAP safety crash tests.
Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary-General of Euro NCAP, commented: “Congratulations to Mazda for another almost-perfect score in adult occupant safety. There are still several cars to be rated in 2019 but it is unlikely we will see better for this part of the assessment.”
Mazda has since spoken out about the model’s incredible Euro NCAP score, saying it comes down to some crucial contributing factors. Firstly, the small SUV has been built using the very latest Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture to provide a “high-rigidity, impact-absorbing yet lightweight bodyshell”.
And second on the list was the CX-30’s vast range of i-Activsense driving assistance and safety technologies. These technological advances not only work to help drivers detect potential collisions early on, but they reduce the severity of damage and injury to both occupants of the vehicle and pedestrians. The 2020 Mazda CX-30 achieved a rating of 80% for Vulnerable Road User tests (pedestrian and cyclists), scoring full points for pedestrian pelvis and leg area protection (full report here).
Mazda creates the perfect family vehicle in the CX-30.
Matthew Avery, Director of Insurance Research at Thatcham Research on Mazda’s latest achievement: “This is a truly impressive result. The Mazda CX-30 is a mainstream vehicle, available at an affordable price point, performing at the highest level in impact testing. In the event of an accident, there are few safer places to be than the front seats of the Mazda CX-30.”
Of course, Mazda’s famous Skyactiv engine technology has also contributed to the achievement. Monique Clarke, Press Officer for Mazda UK, comments: “The superior driving dynamics achieved as a result of Mazda’s Skyactiv Technology also contribute to the new Mazda CX-30’s five-star Euro NCAP achievement, delivering a linear, responsive and predictable acceleration, braking, handling, and steering.”
She added: “By making the car easier to drive safely, the technologies reduce the potential for accidents without compromising Mazda’s traditional fun-to-drive character.”
No car has ever performed this well and Mazda should take pride in taking this honour. Their hard work and commitment to putting the driver’s interests at the forefront of their engineering and craftsmanship continue to pay off.
Space for all your adventures: All-New CX-30 has it all.
The small off-roader will be priced just under £23,000, which we’re sure you can agree is a small price to pay for the safest car ever made, particularly when compared to costly rivals which simply cannot offer the same level of protection.
