Major Changes To Kia Stinger Line-Up As It Is Updated For 2020
Kia’s famous sports saloon range is undergoing major changes. Find out what’s changing and why.

A refreshed design for the Kia Stinger has been revealed after the high-performance fastback saloon is set to carry on as a solo powertrain line-up later this year.
The changes to the model are largely cosmetic with additional customisation options giving you a wider choice across colours, higher-quality interior upholstery as well as two new 18- and 19-inch alloy wheel designs. As seen in the images, a new dark night colour has been introduced alongside a Dark Package which will offer gloss black diffuser detailing, black wide-bore exhaust tips and a dark Stinger rear emblem (though this may be subject to markets and has not been confirmed as available in the UK yet).
LED headlights have been tweaked slightly to deliver a sleeker look whilst taillights have been stretched across the rear’s full width to form a brand-new lightbar. Indicating lights have also been redesigned are said to have been introduced with the intention of mimicking a chequered flag.
The Kia Stinger also receives updates to its 10.25-inch infotainment system which now appears wider and sleeker in shape whilst a new chrome surround has been added to the 7-inch digital instrument display.
The reason behind the updates is to offer drivers an even more refined space full of luxurious comforts and a revised design but there was no way Kia were going to update their flagship sports saloon and not tweak performance even a little bit…
So the upgraded model receives a bigger exhaust system, finished in silver alongside a sportier rear diffuser. The new exhaust system utilises a butterfly valve, enhancing or dampening sound depending on whether you choose to drive in Eco, Comfort or Sport mode. You also get a 3bhp increase with the new system, maximising the total power output to 368bhp.
As mentioned above, the upcoming Stinger line-up will now include just one powertrain – the twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre petrol V6. This is the powertrain used in the current line-up’s Stinger GT S spec.
This of course means the current 4-cylinder engines–the 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines–will be discontinued, available only while stocks last.
It’s clear the brand is focussed in providing a high-performance experience to future Stinger owners, emphasising the model’s Gran Turismo character by surging forward with only the most powerful 3.3-litre petrol V6 in the current range.
