If you\'re looking to pack the family into the car for a day in the great outdoors there\'s nowhere better than the legendary home of Robin Hood. Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve covers 450 acres and incorporates ancient areas of native woodland. Once you\'ve visited the Major Oak and the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre you can then help to celebrate the 15th birthday of a popular children\'s book by heading to Sherwood Pines for the Gruffalo activity trail (from 11th April.)
Twinlakes is one of the East Midlands most popular family tourist attractions and there\'s plenty going on this Easter. Between 5th and 27th April you can travel through a land of chocolate heaven before meeting the Easter Bunny in his grotto. You can become a chocolate certified Easter helper in their Eggstreme Easter masterclass and kids can scour the park to find the thousands of chocolate creme eggs hidden around the park. Twinlakes is situated on the outskirts of Melton Mowbray and so is easy to reach from across the region.
Voted Nottingham\'s Best Visitor Attraction of the year, the Galleries of Justice is located in the centre of the city. Between 5th and 27th April, all the family can explore the hidden identities of Nottingham\'s most notorious Highwayman, Timothy Buckley and Highway Woman, Joan Phillips. The new actor led tour will take you on a journey through Nottingham\'s horrible history where you will experience life in original prison cells, courtrooms, caves and dungeons.
For 20 years, White Post Farm has been one of the East Midlands most popular family attractions. You and your kids can get up close to thousands of friendly animals including chicks, llamas, rabbits, cows and pigs. As well as meeting the animals, you can zoom around on go-karts, catch a seasonal show, do a little shopping or even pick up a new pet. And, on Saturday 12th April, Peppa Pig will be a special guest at the Farm. Along with Daddy Pig, Peppa will be making appearances at intervals throughout the day and there will be a full time table of interactive events to enjoy.
If you want a fun and action-packed family day out, get into your car and head to Conkers, located five miles from Junction 11 of the M42. Between 7th and 27th April there is plenty happening in the heart of the National Forest. You\'ll be able to enjoy the Flip and Dippy clown shows with plate spinning, stilt walking and juggling just a few of the activities available. The Amazing Trevor Hill will be back this year with his animal road show bringing his entourage of furry, slippery and feathered friends. And, Conkers will also be hosting Sublime Science who put on awesome demonstrations using science and dry ice to really capture your children\'s imagination. In addition, everyday ranger activities will be running throughout the Easter holiday where you and your family can learn skills from bush craft survival through to paper crafts.
