2020 Ford Fiesta Gets Fuel-Saving Mild Hybrid Technology

After almost 45 years, the nation’s favourite supermini is going electric. That’s right, the much-loved Ford Fiesta city-car has just been given the electric treatment and receives a new 48-volt battery with mild hybrid technology that promises enhanced power and better efficiency.
The new Mild Hybrid (mHEV) Fiesta will run on its regular award-winning EcoBoost petrol engine but will be assisted by an electric sidekick to boost the Fiesta’s on-board efficiency and achieve fuel savings up to 10%. The 48V lithium-ion battery is automatically charged through regenerative braking, so you don\'t need to worry about ever charging it yourself.

Not only is the Ford Fiesta the brand’s best-selling model in Europe, but it has been electrified and upgraded in 2020 for an improved driving experience overall.
You’ll be able to choose from two powertrains – either the 123bhp or the 153bhp (with 240Nm of torque). As for the Fiesta’s non-hybrid powertrains – well they get the latest generation 1.0 EcoBoost petrol option and a new 7-Speed dual-clutch automatic transmission available with the 124bhp 1.0-litre. So whether you choose to go hybrid or not, you can count on optimised fuel efficiency and less CO2 emissions in either boat.
Alongside mild-hybrid technology, the Ford Fiesta also receives new and improved driving assistance such as Adaptive Cruise Control (with Stop & Go technology on Automatic transmissions) and Traffic Sign Recognition – ideal for motorway and city driving.

Ford’s pledge to offering an electrified version of every passenger car in its European range is well underway and we can expect to see at least 18 electric vehicles in the new Ford electric range on sale before the end of 2021.
